Traveling to Nasarawa State
The permanent NYSC orientation camp is located at Magaji Dan Yanusa, Keffi. Nasarawa is mostly accessible by road. It is bordered in the north by Kaduna state; in the west by the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja; in the south by Kogi and Benue states and in the east by Taraba and Plateau states.
Travellers could travel by air (to the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja), and take a taxi to Nyanya, then a bus going to the camp.tse.

Nasarawa is a state in north central Nigeria. The state was created in 1996, out of the western half of the then Plateau state. Its capital is Lafia.
It shares borders in the west by the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, in the north by Kaduna State, in the south by Benue and Kogi State, and in the east by Plateau and Taraba States. The state consists of 13 Local Government Areas
People and Culture
The state’s general topography is partly mountainous, with undulating plains and lowlands. The state enjoys a tropical climate, characterised by two distinct seasons; dry and rainy. The dry season spans from November to February, while the rainy season is from March to October. The average annual temperature is 28.4 degrees Celsius in Nasarawa.
Nasarawa is richly endowed with a variety of solid minerals like coal, tin, limestone, lead, zinc; some deposits of gold; gemstones such as sapphire, ruby, topaz etc.
Geography and Climate
Nasarawa is diverse; there are 29 languages spoken in the state. Chief among the languages are Agatu, Basa, Eggon, Gbagyi, Gade, Goemai, Gwandara, Hausa, Ham, Kofyar and Lijili. Perhaps the most dominant language you will hear spoken is Hausa. The people of the state mainly engage in Agriculture. They grow cash crops such as; Maize, rice, sorghum, yam, cashew, cassava, sweet potato, pepper, onion, watermelon, sugar cane etc. are planted throughout the year. The state also has enormous land for livestock farming.
One of the major foods to try in Nasarawa is Pate; a dish prepared with ground corn or rice and cooked with vegetables, pepper, tomatoes, garden egg, and meat minces etc.
Notable Places
Important towns and cities include Lafia, Akwanga, Keffi, Karu, Wamba, Eggon, Nassarawa and Doma. One of the main features of Nasarawa is the rather hilly topography, as such many of the natural attractions are rocks and hills such as; Ava and Eggon Hills, Captain Maloney Hills, Efugogiri Hills, Numa Rock and Mail Rumba Rock.
Other exciting sights are Akuriwari warm spring, Crocodile Lake, Natural spring water and Ogani fishing water. Nasarawa State University and Bingham University institutions of higher learning in the state..
