Ilorin International Airport in Ilorin serves air travellers coming into or going out of the state. The state is also accessible by road; especially the state capital, Ilorin. There are buses that travel to Yikpata from Ilorin..

Kwara is a state in the North Central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Its capital is Ilorin. It is bounded by the Republic of Benin to the west and by the Nigerian states of Niger to the north, Kogi to the east, and Ekiti, Osun, and Oyo to the south.
Kwara State consists of 16 Local Government Areas.

People and Culture
The primary ethnic group is Yoruba, with significant Nupe, Bariba, and Fulani minorities. Agriculture is a main economic activity in Kwara state: Cotton, Cocoa, Coffee, Kolanut, Tobacco, Benseed and Palm produce are the main agricultural products.
Kwara state has a very rich and highly interesting cultural heritage and among these are Durbar and swimming and fishing competitions.

Geography and Climate
Kwara State enjoys a tropical climate and subtropical climate with dry and rainy season. The average annual temperature is 26.5 degrees Celsius.
The vegetation comprises rainforest in the southern parts with wooded savannah covering the larger part of the state. The soil is fertile and the state is well watered by the various tributaries of the Niger River which run through hills and valleys.

Key towns include; Offa, Jebba, Patigi, Erin-lIe, Lafiagi, Gure, Afon, Kaiama, Isanlu-lsin, Omu-Aran, and Egbejila. Notable places to visit include; Owu Waterfalls, Emir’s Palace and Dada pottery in Ilorin; Mungo Park Cenotaph, Jebba; Esie Museum, Esie etc.
Higher institutions of learning in the state are; University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Landmark University and Al-Hikmah University.

Interesting Fact
Kwara is one of the least densely populated regions in the country.
