Kebbi is a state in north-western Nigeria. Its capital is Birnin Kebbi. The state was created out of a part of Sokoto State in 1991.
Kebbi State is bordered by Sokoto State, Niger State, Zamfara State, Dosso Region in the Republic of Niger and the Republic of Benin. Kebbi State consists of 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs), 4 emirate councils.
People and Culture
Kebbi State is ethnically heterogeneous, the dominant among the ethnic groups are Hausas, Fulanis, Kabawa, Dakarkaris, Kambaris, Gungawa, Dandawa, Zabarmawa, Dukawa, Fakkawa and Bangawa.
These ethnic groups speak diverse languages and dialects, but the Hausa language is spoken all over the state.
The people engage mainly in agriculture.
Geography and Climate
Kebbi State enjoys a tropical continental type of climate; there two dominant seasons wet and dry. The wet season lasts from April to October in the south and May to September in the north; while the dry season lasts for the remaining period of the year.
The temperature ranges from 21 degrees Celsius in the rainy/wet season to 40 degrees Celsius in the dry season.

Universities in the state are Federal University Birnin Kebbi and Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero.
