Traveling to Jigawa State
The NYSC Permanent Camp is located opposite Army Barrack, Fanisua Dutse Local Government Area. Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano is the closest airport to Jigawa for air travellers. It is also advised for those coming travelling from the southern part of the country to connect to the state by travelling to Kano first and then travelling to Dutse.

If you are looking for the largest livestock market in Africa, look no further. Jigawa, whose capital is Dutse, boasts of the Maigatari livestock market as the largest of such. Jigawa also has the oldest rock paintings in Nigeria situated in Birnin kudu which has a large number of rocks with fascinating ancient paintings.

The state is situated in the north-western part of Nigeria is bordered to the west by Kano State and Katsina State, and to the east by Bauchi State and Yobe State to the northeast. The state which consists of 27 local governments also shares an international border with The Republic of Niger.

People and Culture
Jigawa is mainly populated by the Hausa, Fulani , Badawa  Mangawa people. The people of the state are mostly farmers. Food crops produced include maize, millet and guinea corn, cash crops like cotton and groundnut are also produced. Large numbers of cattle are reared in the state. 

Geography and Climate
The topography of the state is generally flat with the northern, central, and eastern parts covered with undulating sand dunes running in the Southwest to Northeast direction.

The vegetation of Jigawa is mostly savannah, and it enjoys a tropical climate. The annual mean temperature is about 25°C but the mean monthly values range between 21°C in the coolest month and 31°C in the hottest month.
Jigawa State is blessed with mineral resources: kaolin, tourmaline, amethyst, marl stones, potash, solice, iron ore, copper, and gold; also, white quartz, refractory clay and antimony

Notable Places
A number of places you should visit in the State are; Baturiya Birds Sanctuary,  Wawan Rafi, Range of Qwasite Rocks, Ruined Unknown Town, Location of the Emirs Palaces, Hadejia Town Walls & Gate etc. Federal University, Dutse and Sule Lamido University are two of the prominent universities in Jigawa.
