The NYSC orientation camp is located at Isele-Uku. Delta is accessible by roads. There are shuttle buses that travel to major towns in the state. Delta has an airport located at Asaba; so travellers can journey into the state by flight.

Delta State is an oil and agricultural producing state of Nigeria, situated in the region known as the South-South geopolitical zone. The state was carved out of the then Bendel state, in 1991. The capital city is Asaba, while Warri is the economic hub of the State and also the most populated. The state has twelve local government areas.
It is bordered on the on the North West with Edo and Ondo states; Imo and Anambra on the northeast; Rivers and Bayelsa to the south-east. The south and south-east are bounded by the Bight of Benin on the Atlantic Ocean.
People and Culture
The Major ethnic groups in the state are Urhobo, Igbo, Ezon, Isoko and Itsekiri. All the ethnic groups share a common ancestry; consequently, their cultures are similar. These similarities are manifested in their religious folklores, dances, art and crafts and festivals.
Geography and Climate
Delta state is a generally low-lying; no remarkable hills, a wide coastal-belt striated by rivulets and streams. The climate ranges from humid tropical to sub-humid tropical. Delta State is situated in the tropics and therefore experiences a fluctuating climate, ranging from the humid tropical in the south, to the sub-humid in the northeast. Temperature increases from the south to the north; the average daily temperature is 26 degrees Celsius.
The state is well known for its large deposit of crude oil. Other natural resources include; industrial clay, silica, limestone etc.
Notable Places
Other major towns include; Agbor, Ughelli, Sapele. Delta State has quite a number of attractions; there are fascinating palaces, historic sites, monuments, birthplaces of famous people, traditional festival, crafts centres. They include Nana’s Palace in Koko, Asaba beach, Abraka river resort motel, River ethiope source, Ishe festivals in Ewulu, Araya bible site, Ogbeke Square in Asaba, Okpuzu Fall in Ibusa etc. Be sure to visit a couple of these attractions while you are in the state.
Some of the Universities in the State include the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun; Delta State University (Abraka Campus, Oleh Campus, Asaba Campus); and Nigeria Maritime University, Warri.
Interesting Fact
The name “Delta” comes from the point where the River Niger empties into the Ocean.
