Abia state is in southeast Nigeria. The capital is Umuahia. The state was created in 1991 from a part of Imo state.
The state is bounded on the north and northeast by the states of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi respectively. To the west is Imo State, to the east and southeast are Cross River State and Akwa Ibom State, and to the south is Rivers State. Abia has 17 Local Government Areas. Aba is the major commercial city in the state.
Adamawa is a northeastern state in Nigeria. It was carved out of the then Gongola state in 1991. The state capital is Yola. Adamawa is one of the largest states of Nigeria and occupies about 36,917 square kilometres. It is bordered by the states of Borno to the northwest, Gombe to the west and Taraba to the southwest. Its eastern border forms the national eastern border with Cameroon. It consists of 21 local government areas.
Akwa Ibom is located in the coastal southern part of the country; one of the states in the South-South geopolitical zone. It is bordered on the east by Cross River State, on the west by Rivers State and Abia State, and on the south by the Atlantic Ocean and the southernmost tip of Cross River State.
Akwa Ibom was created in 1987 from the former Cross River State. The state’s capital is Uyo and consists of 31 local government areas.
Anambra is in southeastern Nigeria; its capital is Awka. Onitsha is one of its commercial cities as well as Nnewi. The state is bounded by Delta State to the west, Imo State and Rivers State to the south, Enugu State to the east and Kogi State to the north. It consists of 21 local government areas.
Though Agriculture plays an important role in the state’s economy, of equal importance are manufacturing, commerce and trade.
Bauchi State is in northern Nigeria. Its capital is the city of Bauchi. The state was formed in 1976 as part of the former North-Eastern State. The state is bordered by, Kano and Jigawa state to the north, Taraba and Plateau state to the south, Gombe and Yobe states to the east and Kaduna state to the west. Bauchi state consists of 20 Local Government Areas.
Bayelsa is a southern Nigeria state with its capital as Yenagoa. The state was formed in 1996 from part of Rivers State. It is bordered by Delta and Rivers State. Bayelsa consists of 8 local government areas. Its name was derived from the first few letters of the names of the major local government areas from which it was formed – Brass LGA (BALGA), Yenagoa (YELGA) and Sagbama (SALGA). Hence BAYELSA was derived from the letters BA + YEL + SA.
Benue state is in the north-central of Nigeria. Its capital is Makurdi. It is bounded by Nasarawa state in the north, Taraba state to the east, Cross River state to the south, Enugu to the south-west and Kogi state to the west. Benue state consists of 23 local government areas.
Zamfara State is located in the northwestern part of Nigeria. Gusau is the state capital. It borders Niger Republic, Katsina State, Kebbi State and Sokoto State in the north, east, west and northwest respectively.
Zamfara State consists of 14 Local Government Areas.
Yobe state is located in the north-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The capital is Damaturu. It State was created out of the old Borno State in 1991.
It borders the Republic of Niger to the north and the Nigerian states of Borno to the east, Gombe to the southwest, Bauchi to the west, and Jigawa to the northwest. It is divided into 17 local government areas.
