The NYSC camp is located at  NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Lapondo Road, Damare, Girei Lga, Adamawa State. Adamawa is easily accessible by road from any part of the country. There is an airport serving the state capital, it is located 8 kilometres from Yola.

Adamawa state is a northeastern state in Nigeria. It was carved out of the then Gongola state in 1991. The state capital is Yola. Adamawa is one of the largest states of Nigeria and occupies about 36,917 square kilometres. It is bordered by the states of Borno to the northwest, Gombe to the west and Taraba to the southwest. Its eastern border forms the national eastern border with Cameroon. It consists of 21 local government areas.

People and Culture
There are over 80 ethnic groups found in Adamawa State. Some of the ethnic groups include Fulani, Verre, Chamba, Lilba, Kwah, Waja, Tambo, Libo Mwama, Kilba, Viengo, and others.
The people of Adamawa are noted for its rich cultural heritage which reflects in its history, i.e. dances, dress patterns, craftsmanship, music, and her cordial relationships.

Geography and Climate
Topographically, it is mountainous and is crossed by the large river valleys –Benue, Gongola, and Yedsarem. Adamawa enjoys a mainly tropical climate.
The wet season has a good deal of rainfall, while the dry season has very little. The average annual temperature is 28.0 °C in Yola.
The major occupation of the people is farming; cash crops like cotton and groundnuts are grown, while food crops grown include maize, yam, cassava, guinea corn, millet, and rice.

Notable Places
Adamawa State is known for a rich cultural heritage, a rich history, music and dances, dress patterns and hospitality. 
Festivals such as the Njuwa Fishing Festival which holds at Lake Njuwa in Yola town and the Yinagu fishing festival at Michika attract people within and outside the state from the month of March through May each year. Other tourist attractions in the state are Koma hills, three sister rocks (Song Local Government) and Kiri Dam near Guyuk.
Universities in the state are; Adamawa State University, Moddibo Adama University, Yola and the American University of Yola.

Economic Opportunities
Adamawa State’s competitive advantages include its long international borders with Cameroon, major livestock industry hub due to large cattle and small ruminants markets, high solar radiation with high-quality coal deposits, over 700k hectares with high deposits of fertile alluvial soils, and richly endowed with high quality and quantity of mineral resources (Limestone, Gypsum, Baryte, and Coal).

Interesting Fact
Before the creation of Adamawa State, Adamawa was a subordinate kingdom of the Sultanate of Sokoto.
