Traveling to Plateau State

The state is also accessible by road; buses mostly travel to the capital Jos.Dutse.

Plateau state is located in the north-western geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Its capital is Jos. It is bounded by the states of Kaduna and Bauchi on the north, Taraba on the east, and Nassarawa on the south and west. The state is divided into 17 local government areas.
People and Culture
The population of Plateau State is highly heterogeneous with over forty ethnolinguistic groups. No single group is large enough to claim the majority position, but the following are regarded as the major ones: Birom, Angas, Mwangahvul, Taroh, Goemai, Tal, Fier, Afizere (Jarawa), Miango, Youm, Bogghom, Rukuba, Piapung, Kwalla, Montol, Jukun, Challa, Ron, Kulere, Pyem, Miship, Mupun and Buji. Each ethnic group has its own distinct language while Hausa is the most accepted language for communication.
Geography and Climate
The state is geographically unique in Nigeria due to its boundaries of elevated hills surrounding the Jos Plateau it’s capital, and the entire plateau itself.
Natural rock formations are scattered across the grasslands, which cover the plateau.
A high altitude means that Plateau State has a near temperate climate with an average temperature of between 18 and 22°C. Its location in the tropic zone means it also enjoys two seasons; rainy and dry seasons.

Important cities and Town include; Jos, Bukuru, Barkin/Ladi, Pankshin, Shendam, Langtang, and Vom. Notable sites include Shere Hills, Wase Rock, Kurra Falls, Riyom Rock Formation, Jos Wildlife Park, and Museum of Nigeria Traditional Architecture etc.
Institutions of higher learning include the University of Jos and Plateau State University.ri.
Interesting Fact
The temperate climate of Plateau attracted a lot of Europeans to the state in colonial Nigeria and made it a popular tourist destination.
